Orchestra BioMed has announced the appointment of Dr. Vivek Reddy as Executive Chairman of its BACKBEAT Study Steering Committee and Chairman of its Bioelectronic Therapies Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Reddy, a globally recognized expert in cardiac electrophysiology, will spearhead efforts to advance AVIM therapy, a device-based treatment designed to address uncontrolled hypertension in high-risk cardiovascular patients. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding the pivotal BACKBEAT study, fostering clinical adoption, and exploring further applications for Orchestra BioMed’s bioelectronic therapies.
Dr. Reddy, currently serving at The Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, brings extensive experience in electrophysiology, catheter ablation, and stroke prevention device therapies. His expanded role aims to enhance collaboration between clinical advisors and increase awareness of AVIM therapy within the medical community. Orchestra BioMed CEO David Hochman emphasized the significance of this appointment in driving innovation and delivering AVIM therapy to patients globally. As research continues, this partnership is expected to shape the future of cardiovascular treatment, offering a new approach to managing hypertension without reliance on patient adherence.
