Tonix Pharmaceuticals Secures Second GPO Agreement, Expanding TONMYA Coverage to 52 Million U.S. Lives

Tonix Pharmaceuticals' commercial rollout of TONMYA® (cyclobenzaprine HCl sublingual tablets) is advancing through payer channels faster than its first-month cadence suggested, with a second group purchasing organization agreement adding approximately 17 million U.S. commercial lives effective June 1, 2026. Combined with the first GPO agreement, effective May 1, 2026, total commercial coverage now stands at roughly 52 million lives, representing 29% of the approximately 177 million U.S. commercial lives.

For manufacturing and quality teams, the sublingual tablet format carries its own process discipline. Cyclobenzaprine HCl sublingual delivery is engineered to bypass first-pass hepatic metabolism, enabling transmucosal absorption and reducing production of the long half-life active metabolite norcyclobenzaprine. That pharmacokinetic profile depends on consistent dosage form performance, placing sublingual tablet manufacturing squarely within the specialty solid dosage category where dissolution uniformity, moisture control, and mucosal disintegration specifications require validated process parameters under 21 CFR Part 211.

TONMYA received FDA approval on August 15, 2025, as the first new fibromyalgia prescription medicine in more than 15 years. The product targets a patient population exceeding 10 million U.S. adults, a condition characterised by chronic widespread pain, nonrestorative sleep, and central sensitisation. Existing approved therapies carry tolerability limitations that have driven documented physician and patient dissatisfaction, creating the market gap Tonix is entering.

Beyond commercial payers, Tonix reports TONMYA is now available under Medicaid in most states, covering approximately 75 million lives in that channel. Medicare negotiations are described as continuing to advance. The TONMYA Together Support Program provides a savings pathway for eligible commercially insured patients through retail and digital pharmacy channels.

The two-GPO structure, reached within 30 days of initial commercial launch, sets a near-term benchmark: Tonix has indicated it is actively pursuing expanded coverage across both commercial and government channels, with Medicare formulary placement representing the next measurable access threshold.
