AB Science Secures EUR 14.2 Million Private Placement to Advance Masitinib and AB8939 Programs
AB Science closes EUR 14.2M private placement, lifting cash to ~EUR 23M to fund masitinib (ALS) and AB8939 (AML) development through 2027.

With roughly EUR 23 million in cash following a EUR 14.2 million private placement, AB Science has bought itself a defined runway to advance two late-stage programs without near-term dilutive pressure, a position that matters for any development team managing clinical timelines against a capital constraint.
The Paris-based biotech closed the placement on 10 August 2026, issuing 23,278,692 new ordinary shares structured as ABSAs, units pairing new shares with attached warrants (BSA-1 and BSA-2) exercisable at EUR 1.00 per share. The round was anchored by an existing long-term investor contributing EUR 12 million of the total, with CEO Stéphane Ledermann participating personally alongside that anchor. The transaction was conducted without preferential subscription rights and does not require AMF prospectus approval under Article 1.5.(ba) of the EU Prospectus Regulation (EU) 2017/1129; an information document has been filed with the AMF and is available on both the company and regulator websites.
Net proceeds are allocated to three areas: development of AB8939 in acute myeloid leukemia, continued advancement of masitinib in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and a set of nearer-term value-creation projects the company states will be disclosed in September 2026. The cash position, the company confirms, covers financing needs beyond the next 12 months, removing the immediate need for bridge financing that has complicated several small-cap European biotech programs in the current environment.
For development and regulatory leads tracking either the ALS or AML space, the September disclosure is the next substantive checkpoint, the company has indicated its full strategic plan, including employee and shareholder value-creation mechanisms, will be announced then.
The completion of this placement and the September strategic announcement will together determine whether AB Science's stated 12-month runway translates into measurable clinical progress on the masitinib ALS program and the AB8939 AML development timeline.
