Baxter International has appointed Andrew Hider as its new president and chief executive officer, with his term set to begin by September 3, 2025, or earlier, depending on his current employment commitments. Hider will also join Baxter’s board of directors. Interim CEO and board chair Brent Shafer will transition to the role of independent chair once Hider assumes the CEO role.
“Andrew is an exceptional leader with a strong track record of operational excellence, disciplined execution and innovation. We are excited that he will be Baxter’s next CEO. Andrew’s leadership at global, diversified companies underscores his ability to manage complex operations and generate value for shareholders while maintaining a focus on quality and important customer-centric missions. We are confident he is the right executive to lead Baxter into its next chapter, ” said Mr. Shafer.
Hider currently leads ATS Corporation, a global automation solutions provider, where he has overseen significant growth and strategic transformation since 2017. Under his leadership, ATS shifted its focus toward higher-growth sectors, doubled its adjusted revenues, and achieved strong adjusted EBITDA growth, delivering a compound annual growth rate in the low-to-mid teens. During his tenure, ATS’s stock value more than tripled, outpacing major market indices.
“I am energized by Baxter’s mission-driven culture and strong legacy of creating medically essential products that help address patients’ and customers’ most pressing needs. Baxter has undergone a significant transformation over the last few years, refocusing the company and better positioning it for the future. I look forward to partnering with the Board and working alongside my talented future colleagues to accelerate innovation, further enhance our performance and redefine healthcare delivery while driving sustainable, long-term growth,” said Mr. Hider.
ATS’s business shares strategic similarities with Baxter, particularly in its customer-centric model and focus on life sciences and healthcare. The company operates more than 65 manufacturing sites globally and has become a major automation partner in the medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, and laboratory industries experience that aligns closely with Baxter’s strategic vision.
