Bicara Therapeutics Appoints Jeremy Bender And Christy Oliger To Board Of Directors

Bicara Therapeutics Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing bifunctional therapies for solid tumors, has strengthened its leadership with the appointment of Jeremy Bender, Ph.D., MBA, and Christy Oliger to its Board of Directors. The appointments come as the company prepares to transition from a clinical-stage organisation to one focused on bringing its lead therapy, ficerafusp alfa, to patients.

Dr. Bender brings more than 20 years of experience in biotechnology, specialising in corporate strategy and business operations. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Day One Biopharmaceuticals until the company's acquisition by Servier in 2026. Ms. Oliger adds over three decades of commercial and operational leadership experience in the global biopharmaceutical industry, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of the Oncology Business Unit at Genentech.

Commenting on the appointments, Claire Mazumdar, Ph.D., MBA, Chief Executive Officer of Bicara Therapeutics, said the company is pleased to welcome both leaders at a pivotal stage of its growth. She noted that their combined expertise in commercial strategy, operations, and business development will support Bicara as it advances from clinical development towards commercialisation. She also highlighted their strong track records of guiding innovative biopharmaceutical companies through key stages of growth, including pipeline development, corporate strategy, and successful product launches.

Mazumdar added that the experience and perspectives of both new board members will strengthen Bicara's leadership as the company advances its portfolio, executes its long-term strategy, and continues building into a fully integrated biopharmaceutical organisation. Their guidance is expected to play an important role in supporting the development and future commercial success of ficerafusp alfa.

Alongside these appointments, Bicara announced the retirement of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw from its Board of Directors. As one of the company's founding board members, she played a significant role in Bicara's growth by providing early financial support, strategic guidance, and long-term leadership. Her contributions helped the company advance ficerafusp alfa from its early stages into clinical development and achieve the important milestone of reaching a registration-enabling clinical study.

Mike Powell, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board of Bicara Therapeutics, thanked Mazumdar-Shaw for her vision and lasting contributions to the company. He said her leadership and unwavering support were instrumental in shaping Bicara from its earliest days and helping establish the strong foundation on which the company continues to build as it progresses towards the next phase of its development.
