Biodexa Pharmaceuticals Strengthens Leadership Team With Fiona Sharp As Chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary, And Board Member

Biodexa Pharmaceuticals PLC, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing innovative therapies for diseases with unmet medical needs, has announced the promotion of Fiona Sharp to Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary, along with her election to the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Ms. Sharp joined Biodexa in December 2019 as Group Financial Controller and has progressively taken on many responsibilities typically associated with a CFO. 

Her leadership and expertise in financial management have been instrumental in supporting the company’s growth and governance. Prior to joining Biodexa, Ms. Sharp served as Assistant Director of Finance for the Hywel Dda University Health Board, overseeing financial operations for an organization with more than 10,000 staff and an annual budget of approximately £800 million. 

Earlier in her career, from 1999 to early 2018, she held a series of senior finance positions at Chime Communications Group, an international communications and sports marketing organization with revenues of around £570 million, which was publicly listed on the UK stock exchange until its acquisition by private equity. Stephen Stamp will step down from his roles as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary but will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Stephen Parker, Chairman of Biodexa, commented that Ms. Sharp has made significant contributions to the company’s financial governance over her six years with the organization, often navigating complex and challenging circumstances. He added that her promotion is well-deserved and expressed enthusiasm for working with her on the Biodexa Board. This leadership change strengthens Biodexa’s executive team as the company continues to advance its pipeline of innovative therapies and pursue its strategic objectives.
