Cato Healthcare Supply Strengthens Leadership Team With Four Key Executive Appointments

Cato Healthcare Supply has announced the promotion and appointment of four senior executives as part of its ongoing efforts to expand its national presence and strengthen its capabilities in technology, operations, and commercial growth. The leadership changes support the company's long-term strategy under recently appointed President and Chief Executive Officer Ryan F. Zackon, who is focused on transforming Cato into a leading healthcare supply chain resiliency platform.

As part of the leadership restructuring, Toby Ryan has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. A co-founder of the company, Ryan previously served as Chief of Staff and has played a key role in overseeing daily operations since helping establish Cato Healthcare Supply in 2020 while studying at Boston University. Over the past few years, he has helped grow the company from a small sourcing business into a trusted procurement partner serving healthcare systems across the United States. In his new role, Ryan will oversee enterprise operations, supplier performance, sourcing execution, fulfilment, and organisational alignment while supporting the company's continued national expansion.

The company has also promoted Nathan Brandon to Vice President of Strategic Sourcing. Brandon brings extensive experience in global procurement and supplier diversification. He previously founded GSO Healthcare, an international healthcare sourcing company, and holds a Master's degree in Global Supply Chain Management from the University of Tennessee. His previous experience also includes roles in institutional finance at Fifth Third Bank and operational consulting at OakPointe Advisors. As Vice President of Strategic Sourcing, he will focus on expanding Cato's global supplier network while improving supply continuity, pricing stability, and overall supply chain resilience for healthcare providers.

Rick Gabriel has been promoted to Vice President of Engineering, bringing more than 25 years of experience in developing enterprise software for healthcare logistics and supply chain management. Throughout his career, he has built advanced technology solutions for organisations including Google X and S&P Global. At Cato, he led the development of the company's proprietary AI-powered procurement platform, which uses advanced automation and AI technologies to improve sourcing intelligence and accelerate procurement decisions. In his new position, Gabriel will continue leading the expansion of Cato's technology platform.

Cato has also appointed Josh Weil as Vice President of Commercialization. Weil brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry, with expertise in commercialising medical technologies, building high-performing sales teams, and developing strategic partnerships with healthcare systems, Group Purchasing Organisations (GPOs), and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs). He will be responsible for driving the company's commercial strategy, increasing market adoption, and supporting continued business growth across the healthcare sector.

Commenting on the appointments, Ryan F. Zackon said that building an industry-leading company starts with building an exceptional leadership team. He noted that the new appointments reflect Cato Healthcare Supply's commitment to strengthening its operational, sourcing, technological, and commercial capabilities to better support healthcare providers facing supply chain challenges. Zackon also praised each executive for their unique expertise, highlighting Ryan's operational leadership, Brandon's sourcing knowledge, Gabriel's technology innovation, and Weil's commercial experience. He added that together, the leadership team will help position Cato Healthcare Supply as a trusted supply chain resiliency partner for healthcare systems across the United States.
