Celularity Appoints Rick Gonzalez as Chief Commercial Officer to Lead Cenplacel-L and Lifebank Commercialization

Celularity's commercial infrastructure is being rebuilt around two assets — cenplacel-L and Lifebank — with the appointment of Rick Gonzalez as Chief Commercial Officer, effective May 29, 2026. For quality and regulatory leads tracking placental-derived allogeneic cell therapies, the hire signals an accelerating push into permissive international markets where physician-directed access frameworks govern product deployment.

Gonzalez reports directly to Chairman, CEO and Founder Robert J. Hariri, M.D., Ph.D., and carries responsibility for global commercial strategy across cenplacel-L, Lifebank, and Celularity's broader regenerative medicine portfolio. His mandate spans pricing, reimbursement, market access, and launch readiness — functions that, in the cell therapy space, sit in close proximity to GMP manufacturing controls and post-market surveillance obligations.

Gonzalez brings more than two decades of executive experience across biotechnology, medical technology, precision medicine, and digital health. Most recently he served as CCO of Alume Biosciences, leading global commercialization of a clinical-stage surgical visualization platform. Before that, as President and CEO of Navidea Biopharmaceuticals, he drove 2.5x year-over-year revenue growth on a precision diagnostic platform. At Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, as Senior Vice President of Global Operations, he helped scale global revenue from $7.7 million to approximately $300 million through international expansion of specialty therapies. Earlier roles included Abraxis, Genzyme, Corixa, Ligand, and Roche.

Cenplacel-L — clinically investigated as PDA-001 and PDA-002 — represents more than two decades of Celularity research into postpartum placental cell biology. The program is currently available to qualified physicians for investigational use in jurisdictions where regulatory frameworks permit such access. For manufacturing and QA teams, that positioning carries direct implications: supply chain integrity, lot release standards, and chain-of-custody documentation must hold across geographies operating under varied regulatory oversight models rather than a single harmonized framework such as 21 CFR Part 211 or ICH Q10.

Lifebank, Celularity's cellular banking offering for expectant parents and adults banking autologous cells, recorded sales in 2025 and forms the second pillar of Gonzalez's commercial remit. Expansion of that offering adds a separate set of collection, processing, and long-term storage quality considerations to the operational picture.

Celularity's ability to sustain early commercial traction in permissive markets will depend in part on whether manufacturing output and quality systems can scale in step with the commercial organization Gonzalez is now charged with building.
