Hyphens Pharma International Limited, a top player in
Singapore’s pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare sector, proudly introduces
the Ceradan® Advanced Hand Balm. This new product joins the Ceradan line,
tailored for managing atopic dermatitis, commonly referred to as eczema. In
collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR),
the Ceradan Advanced Hand Balm is the first hand balm to feature patented
active pH control technology, specifically crafted for individuals with hand eczema.
Hand eczema, marked by an increase in skin pH and a weakened
barrier, makes hands vulnerable to irritants, leading to inflammation.
Healthcare workers are especially prone, with 38% affected, compared to only 9%
of the general public, primarily due to frequent handwashing. Ceradan® Advanced
Hand Balm tackles these eczema challenges by offering long-term pH balance with
its patented active pH control technology. This breakthrough helps manage the
condition by maintaining skin barrier stability, boosting antimicrobial
protection, and reducing inflammation and itching.
Clinical trials have demonstrated a notable increase in skin
ceramide levels following the use of Ceradan® Advanced Hand Balm¹. Its unique
3:1:1 ceramide-dominant formula, enriched with essential skin lipids, aids in
restoring the skin’s barrier. This restoration is crucial for those suffering
from hand eczema, as their symptoms can vary from dryness and itching to more
severe conditions like blisters, vesicles, cracks, and even bleeding. By
reinforcing the skin barrier, the balm provides much-needed relief from these
discomforts.
A'STAR played a key role in the creation of the Advanced
Hand Balm, overseeing its formulation and conducting stability tests to
guarantee it met the necessary quality benchmarks for wider use. Afterward,
they facilitated the production scale-up and provided the technology transfer
along with the manufacturing protocol to enable commercial production. A'STAR's
scientists also tested the balm's efficacy, focusing on its benefits for skin
health by tracking hydration levels and essential markers such as ceramide
content.
"The launch of the Ceradan Advanced Hand Balm marks a
significant milestone in our mission to provide effective, science-backed
solutions for skin health. Recognizing the unique needs of healthcare
professionals, it offers targeted relief and lasting protection for hand
eczema, empowering them to gain control over their symptoms and regain a better
quality of life,” mentioned Lim See Wah, Executive Chairman and CEO of Hyphens
Pharma.
Mr Lim Li-Wei, Executive Director of Innovation &
Enterprise, A'STAR, said in a statement, "Our research partnership with
Hyphens Pharma showcases A'STAR's commitment to supporting enterprise growth in
Singapore's innovation-driven economy. Through. translational research
collaborations and intellectual property licensing, we work closely with
