Codexis Appoints David Butler To Strategic Advisory Board To Support Growth In siRNA Manufacturing And Enzymatic Technologies

Codexis, Inc., a biotechnology company specializing in enzymatic solutions for the efficient and scalable manufacturing of complex oligonucleotide therapeutics, has appointed David Butler, Ph.D., to its Strategic Advisory Board (SAB). In his new role, Butler will provide technical expertise, industry guidance, and strategic advice as the company continues to expand its enzymatic manufacturing platform and strengthen its position in the growing oligonucleotide therapeutics market. At the same time, longtime advisory board member Carole Cobb will step down from the SAB.

Codexis President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Alison Moore said Butler's extensive experience in the siRNA therapeutics field and his expertise in manufacturing and scaling up oligonucleotide production will bring valuable insights to the company. She added that his knowledge will support Codexis as it continues to advance its enzymatic technologies and broaden its impact across the biopharmaceutical industry.

Butler said he is honored to join the Strategic Advisory Board and looks forward to working with the company's leadership team. He noted that Codexis' enzymatic technology has the potential to improve the manufacturing of siRNA-based medicines, and he aims to help accelerate the development of more efficient and scalable production processes.

With more than 20 years of experience in the oligonucleotide sector, Butler most recently served as Chief Technology Officer at Hongene Biotech Corporation from 2023 to 2026. Before that, he held leadership positions overseeing chemistry organizations at Wave Life Sciences, Korro Bio, and Alltrna. Earlier in his career, he worked at Alnylam, where he contributed to the development of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery technologies that later became a key foundation for modern mRNA-based therapeutics and vaccines. He holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews.

Alongside Butler's appointment, Codexis announced that Carole Cobb will be stepping down from the Strategic Advisory Board after years of service. Dr. Moore thanked Cobb for her significant contributions, particularly her expertise in bioprocessing, which helped guide the company's scientific and manufacturing strategies over the years.

The appointment reflects Codexis' continued focus on strengthening its scientific leadership as demand grows for advanced manufacturing technologies in the oligonucleotide and RNA therapeutics space.
