Geron Corporation Appoints Timothy Williams As Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, And Corporate Secretary

Geron Corporation, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on transforming the treatment of blood cancers, announced the appointment of Timothy Williams as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary.


President and Chief Executive Officer Harout Semerjian emphasized that Williams brings extensive legal and industry expertise, particularly within commercial-stage biopharmaceutical organizations. He noted that Williams’ experience and leadership will add important strength to Geron’s executive team, especially following the company’s recent Board additions. Semerjian added that Williams’ strategic guidance will play a key role as Geron continues working toward its goal of building a leading and sustainable hematology-focused company.


In his remarks, Timothy Williams said that Geron offers a differentiated treatment option for patients with lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes and myelodysplastic neoplasms. He also pointed to the company’s strong commercial strategy, stating that it supports long-term growth and value creation. Williams expressed enthusiasm about joining the organization and contributing to its strategic priorities for the benefit of patients and shareholders.


Williams brings significant legal and operational experience from across the biopharmaceutical and medical technology sectors. From 2018 to March 2026, he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Vanda Pharmaceuticals, where he led the company’s legal function. Before his role at Vanda, he held the position of Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary at AgNovos Bioscience.


Earlier in his career, Williams served as Senior Legal Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Stryker Corporation. During his time there, he led global efforts across mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and securities-related legal matters. Before joining Stryker, he practiced law in Chicago with the firms Mayer Brown and Bryan Cave, gaining extensive experience in corporate and regulatory law. Williams earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan. He also holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Michigan University.
