Micron Biomedical Appoints Dr. Jayne Morgan, Renowned Health Education And Empowerment Advocate, To Its Board Of Advisors

Micron Biomedical, a life sciences company focused on developing needle-free, dissolvable technology for the delivery of drugs and vaccines, has announced the appointment of Dr. Jayne Morgan to its Board of Advisors. In her new role, Dr. Morgan will support the company’s mission by helping promote public education and awareness around next-generation therapeutics and vaccines that can be administered without the need for an injection.

Micron’s technology offers a simplified approach to drug and vaccine delivery by eliminating the need for cold storage and enabling self-administration. This is particularly relevant in the United States, where approximately 80% of counties, home to nearly 30 million people are considered healthcare deserts. In these areas, access to healthcare services is often limited due to factors such as distance from providers, transportation issues, and job-related constraints. Micron’s dissolvable, needle-free patches can be mailed directly to individuals, offering a practical solution for improving access to essential medications and vaccines. This approach may also help address needle phobia and other challenges associated with traditional injections.

Steven Damon, CEO of Micron Biomedical, said in a statement, “Dr. Jayne Morgan’s impressive track-record delivering easy-to-understand and engaging conversations about health topics people care about has rightfully gained the trust of many Americans across diverse backgrounds. At a time when demand for reliable information about life science innovations is high, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Morgan to Micron Biomedical’s Board of Advisors, particularly given the opportunity for our dissolvable microarray technology to improve health locally and globally.”

Jayne Morgan, M.D., stated, “Throughout my career, I have looked for opportunities to help people make healthy choices that would improve their health and quality of life. Access to life-saving drugs, particularly in the painless, dissolvable format that Micron Biomedical has developed, have the potential to transform the health of our country and I look forward to working with Micron to advance this work.”

Dr. Jayne Morgan is a cardiologist and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at The Morehouse School of Medicine. She is also a recognized health communicator who frequently appears in national media, including CNN, where she explains complex medical topics in accessible language. She is the creator of “The Stairwell Chronicles”, a popular social media series that addresses medical questions in a conversational format. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Morgan played a key role in improving public understanding of vaccines, infectious diseases, and general health and wellness.

Dr. Morgan has held several leadership roles in healthcare, including serving as the Executive Director of Health and Community Education and Executive Director of the COVID Task Force at Piedmont Healthcare, Georgia’s largest healthcare system. She also led its Cardiovascular Research Program. Her efforts to increase health literacy and provide reliable medical information have earned her multiple recognitions, including being selected to participate in the Department of Health’s "Ask The Experts" series.

Dr. Morgan joins a distinguished group of advisors at Micron Biomedical, which includes Dr. Seth Berkley, a global health leader, and Dr. Sandeep Patel, the former Director of BARDA DRIVe. Together, the Board will support Micron’s goal of transforming how drugs and vaccines are delivered, making them more accessible to people everywhere.
