Lungpacer Medical Strengthens Leadership Team With Appointment Of Steven Pfanstiel As The New Chief Financial Officer

Lungpacer Medical Inc., a company developing neurostimulation technologies for critically ill patients, has announced the appointment of Steven Pfanstiel as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The appointment comes at a significant time for the company as it continues to expand the commercial reach of its AeroPace® System.

Pfanstiel brings nearly 25 years of experience in financial management, operations, and business leadership across the medical device, biotechnology, and healthcare sectors. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in supporting innovative healthcare companies through growth, commercialization, and strategic development.

Before joining Lungpacer, Pfanstiel served as CFO at Neuronetics, where he contributed to the integration of the Greenbrook clinic business and helped support the company’s ongoing commercial growth initiatives. Prior to that, he held the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Marinus Pharmaceuticals. During his tenure, he helped oversee the commercial launch of Ztalmy®, a treatment developed for seizure disorders, and played an important role in the company’s acquisition by Immedica Pharma AB in 2025.

Earlier in his career, Pfanstiel held senior leadership roles in finance and operations at several healthcare organizations, including LifeScan, OptiNose, and Johnson & Johnson. His broad industry experience is expected to support Lungpacer as it advances its business and expands market adoption of its technologies.

Doug Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lungpacer Medical, welcomed the appointment, stating that the company is entering an important phase of growth. He noted that with the AeroPace System already approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), an established Medicare reimbursement pathway in place, and increasing commercial momentum, Pfanstiel’s expertise in commercialization, operational growth, and financial strategy will be highly valuable. Evans also highlighted Pfanstiel’s collaborative leadership style and strong alignment with the company’s long-term goals.

Commenting on his new role, Pfanstiel said he is excited to join Lungpacer during a transformative period for the company. He emphasized the potential of the AeroPace System to address a major unmet need among patients who rely on mechanical ventilation. He also pointed to the promise of the company’s future pipeline, including AeroNova, which aims to improve patient outcomes while helping reduce healthcare costs. Pfanstiel expressed his enthusiasm for working alongside the leadership team to drive commercialization efforts and create long-term value for patients, healthcare providers, and investors.

Pfanstiel holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He also earned a Master of Science in Environmental Systems Engineering from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Wabash College.
