Mobia Medical Appoints Surgeon and Healthcare Executive Dr. Myriam Curet To Board To Support Growth Of Stroke Recovery Business

Mobia Medical, Inc., a commercial-stage medical device company focused on improving stroke recovery for patients with long-term motor impairments, has appointed Myriam Curet, M.D., as an independent member of its Board of Directors. The appointment became effective on July 30, 2026, and adds an experienced surgeon and healthcare executive to the company's leadership as it continues expanding access to its stroke recovery technology.

President and Chief Executive Officer Richard Foust said Dr. Curet brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, executive leadership, and public company board experience. He noted that her years of leadership at Intuitive Surgical, along with her continued work as a practicing surgeon and experience in corporate governance, will provide valuable guidance as Mobia Medical advances its patient-focused innovation strategy and grows its business.

Dr. Curet has served as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine since 2015 and previously held several faculty positions within Stanford's Department of Surgery, including Professor of Surgery. She also maintains a part-time clinical appointment at the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Medical Center. Earlier in her career, she was an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of New Mexico and held leadership roles with the Indian Health Service, including serving as Deputy Medical Director of the Gallup Indian Medical Center.

Commenting on her appointment, Dr. Curet said she has spent her career working alongside innovative medical technology companies and has witnessed how breakthrough technologies can transform patient care. She said she looks forward to supporting Mobia Medical as it expands its business, increases patient access to its Vivistim therapy, and helps improve recovery outcomes for stroke survivors.

In addition to her clinical career, Dr. Curet has extensive experience serving on the boards of publicly traded healthcare companies. She currently serves as a director of Inspire Medical Systems, which develops treatments for obstructive sleep apnea, and Stereotaxis, a company specializing in robotic technologies for treating cardiac arrhythmias. She previously served on the board of Nektar Therapeutics from 2019 to 2024. Dr. Curet earned a bachelor's degree from Bryn Mawr College and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School before completing her general surgery residency at the University of Chicago and a fellowship in surgical endoscopy at the University of New Mexico. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
