MUSC Health And Baxter Form Strategic Partnership To Advance Connected Care And Nursing Innovation

MUSC Health and Baxter International have announced a multi-year strategic partnership focused on strengthening patient care through the use of integrated, connected care technologies. The collaboration is designed to build on the high standards of quality and safety already delivered across MUSC Health’s care network by combining Baxter’s advanced medtech solutions with MUSC Health’s clinical and academic expertise.

“This partnership represents a shared commitment to supporting our nurses – who are the backbone of patient care – with the tools, technology and training they need to thrive,” said Patrick J. Cawley, M.D., CEO, MUSC Health and executive vice president for Health Affairs, University. “Together with Baxter, we are building a model that will not only impact the day-to-day experience for our caregivers but also further enhance the exceptional care we provide to patients across the state.”

Through this partnership, both organizations aim to improve nurse satisfaction and retention while advancing quality and safety outcomes for patients. By embedding smarter, more connected technologies into everyday care delivery, the initiative seeks to reduce administrative burdens on nursing staff and enable more efficient, data-driven clinical decision-making.

“Continuously improving the experiences of care teams with our connected technologies and services is at the core of Baxter’s vision to redefine healthcare delivery,” said Reaz Rasul, executive vice president and group president of Baxter’s Healthcare Systems & Technologies segment. “We are honored to partner with MUSC Health to help create scalable, innovative solutions that further support improved care outcomes and help nurses focus on what matters most: patient care.”

The collaboration will also act as a platform for innovation, supporting new approaches to automating nursing workflows and embedding actionable insights across the entire care continuum. By evaluating outcomes and sharing best practices, the partnership intends to create scalable models that can be adopted across the broader healthcare industry.

“As a nurse, I have seen firsthand the significant administrative burden that so many of my colleagues face every day. These challenges can take time away from what matters most – spending time at the bed side with patients,” said Baley Ganger, Chief Nursing Information Officer, MUSC Health. “I am excited to see how our strategic partnership with Baxter and the integration of connected technologies will help alleviate these burdens, allowing nurses to focus on providing excellent patient care.”

In addition, the alliance emphasizes nursing education and workforce development, with joint initiatives aimed at shaping the future of nursing care. Together, MUSC Health and Baxter aim to modernize bedside care, enhance communication and data integration, and set new benchmarks for connected healthcare delivery.
