Novo Nordisk Announces Massive DKK 8.5 Billion Investment In Odense Facility

Novo Nordisk is set to invest 8.5 billion Danish kroner in building a new production facility in Odense, Denmark. This is the company’s first new site in Denmark in over 20 years. The facility will cover 40,000 m² and include a modern production plant and warehouse. Its modular design will support a range of products, focusing on rare diseases like haemophilia, both now and in the future.

Henrik Wulff, executive vice president, Product Supply, Quality & IT of Novo Nordisk, said in a statement, “The facility will utilise advanced technology and innovative equipment to ensure the highest quality to patients and meet the growing global demand for our life-changing medicines. We are proud to build on our heritage in Denmark and look forward to embarking on this journey in Odense, a well-connected city with a dynamic community and talented workforce.”

The new facility will prioritize environmental conservation, with plans to plant over 4,000 trees and integrate solar panels to generate electricity. The landscape will be shaped using recycled materials like soil and wood, creating lakes, forests, and public community spaces. Construction has already started and is expected to finish by 2027. Once completed, the site will create 400 permanent jobs, while up to 1,000 workers will be involved during the construction phase.
