PW Skills, the skills training arm of Physics Wallah (PW), has taken a significant step to alleviate India's healthcare staffing challenges with the launch of its School of Healthcare. This new initiative, established in five major cities—Noida, Indore, Lucknow, Patna, and Delhi—seeks to directly address the severe shortage of trained healthcare professionals in the country. As India's healthcare sector continues to grow at an impressive pace, projected at an annual growth rate of 22% since 2016, the need for vocational training has become more urgent than ever.
Currently, only a small percentage (around 15%) of the allied healthcare workforce in India has received proper vocational training. The School of Healthcare aims to change that by offering specialized training programs designed to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare industry. Among the key programs are those for Medical Lab Technicians (MLT) and Operation Theatre Technicians (OTT), which combine rigorous academic coursework with extensive hands-on internships. This approach ensures students are not only theoretically sound but also practically equipped for real-world healthcare environments.
PW's Chief Business Officer, Ashish Sharma, highlighted the critical role this new initiative will play: “Our healthcare system is growing quickly, but we need more qualified professionals to meet demand. Through our School of Healthcare, we aim to fill that gap by delivering high-quality education that is both accessible and affordable.”
In addition to providing technical expertise, the School of Healthcare focuses on the overall development of its students, equipping them with essential soft skills, interview techniques, and computer proficiency. The school’s curriculum is structured to prepare students for both domestic and international job markets, increasing their employability and opening up global career opportunities.
PW Skills continues to build on its strong track record of democratizing education in India. This latest venture into healthcare education is another stride towards creating skilled professionals who are ready to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving healthcare sector.
Through this strategic initiative, PW Skills is not just shaping future healthcare professionals, but also contributing to the strengthening of India’s healthcare infrastructure.
