Roche has introduced its proprietary Sequencing by Expansion (SBX) technology, marking a breakthrough in next-generation sequencing. This novel approach integrates advanced biochemistry with a cutting-edge sensor module to deliver ultra-rapid, high-throughput sequencing, offering unparalleled accuracy and flexibility for genetic research. SBX technology encodes DNA or RNA sequences into Xpandomers—longer surrogate polymers that enhance signal clarity, significantly improving sequencing efficiency.
By addressing key limitations of existing sequencing methods, SBX enables faster and more scalable sequencing applications across genomics, cancer research, and complex disease studies. “The speed and accuracy of SBX have the potential to revolutionize sequencing in both research and healthcare,” said Matt Sause, CEO of Roche Diagnostics. With its high precision and adaptability, SBX is poised to drive major advancements in disease understanding and future clinical applications.
