Sanofi Announces Major Executive Committee Changes Ahead Of Its Next Strategic Chapter

Sanofi has announced changes to its Executive Committee as part of an effort to strengthen its leadership structure and support the company's long-term strategic priorities. The updated leadership team brings together senior executives from Sanofi's core business units, research organization, and key global functions as the company prepares for its next phase of growth. The new Executive Committee structure will take effect on September 1, 2026.

Under the revised leadership team, François Roger will continue as Executive Vice President of Finance, while Paulo Fontoura will serve as Executive Vice President and Head of Research & Development. Manuela Buxo will lead Specialty Care, Thomas Triomphe will continue overseeing the Vaccines business, Thomas Grenier will become Executive Vice President of General Medicines, Brendan O'Callaghan will lead Manufacturing & Supply, Jamie Haney will serve as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and Véronique Jaillet will assume the role of Executive Vice President and interim Chief People Officer. 

In addition, Emmanuel Frenehard, Head of Digital, and Audrey Duval, Head of Corporate Affairs and President of Sanofi France, will continue reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Belén Garijo. As part of the organizational changes, Madeleine Roach, who currently serves as Head of Business Operations, will become President and Country Lead for Sanofi's operations in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Her existing responsibilities related to enterprise business services will be transferred to the Finance function. 

The Finance organization will also take on responsibility for Global Partnering and Business Development, creating a more integrated approach to business development activities and mergers and acquisitions across the company. Sanofi has also expanded Thomas Triomphe's leadership responsibilities. Along with continuing as Executive Vice President of the Vaccines business, he will now oversee the company's operations in China. The company believes this additional responsibility will help strengthen leadership across one of its important international markets while maintaining focus on the vaccines business.

The leadership transition also includes changes involving two senior executives. Olivier Charmeil, currently Executive Vice President of General Medicines, will move into the position of Strategic Projects Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. Sanofi acknowledged his long-standing contributions to the company, highlighting his leadership across multiple roles and his commitment to employees, the business, and patients. At the same time, Roy Papatheodorou, currently Executive Vice President and General Counsel, has decided to leave Sanofi to pursue opportunities outside the company after more than four years of service, during which he made significant contributions to the organization.

Commenting on the changes, Belén Garijo, Chief Executive Officer of Sanofi, said the updated Executive Committee brings together experienced leaders who will help shape the company's future direction, make strategic decisions, and execute them with discipline and focus. She expressed gratitude to both current and departing executives for their leadership, dedication, and contributions to Sanofi's continued success, adding that the company remains committed to delivering value for patients, employees, and stakeholders as it enters its next chapter of growth.
