Scorpius Holdings Announces Strategic Global Vision With $6M Savings Plan, Southeast Asia Growth Strategy, And New Board Member

Scorpius Holdings, Inc. has announced a corporate update outlining key strategic initiatives to improve operational efficiency and expand its global footprint. As part of a significant restructuring effort, the company has implemented a 28% workforce reduction and realigned non-core spending, resulting in over $6 million in expected annualised cost savings. These measures are designed to improve capital efficiency while continuing to support high-quality services for clients in biologics development and manufacturing.

“We have proactively implemented structural changes to right-size our operations, including workforce reductions and closing our North Carolina facilities to consolidate operations in one location. While these decisions are difficult, we believe they are essential to accelerating our path to profitability,” said Jeff Wolf, Chief Executive Officer of Scorpius Holdings.

To broaden its international presence, Scorpius is exploring establishing a halal-certified biomanufacturing facility in Malaysia. Early discussions are underway with local stakeholders and regulatory bodies to form a subsidiary capable of producing biologics that meet halal standards. This move is strategically aimed at addressing the unmet healthcare needs of the global Muslim population, especially in Southeast Asia, by providing culturally compliant biopharmaceutical solutions.

YB Chang Lih Kang, Malaysia’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), stated, “We look forward to working closely with Scorpius Holdings as they aim to bring their expertise in biomanufacturing to Malaysia. There is an urgent need for regional access to high-quality biologics, especially those produced to halal standards. This collaboration underscores Malaysia’s commitment to becoming a global hub for halal biopharmaceutical innovation.”

Scorpius has appointed Malaysian entrepreneur Tan Sze Thuan to its Board of Directors to support its global expansion plans further. Mr. Tan brings deep logistics and regional business experience, positioning him as a valuable asset in navigating partnerships, infrastructure, and compliance matters across Southeast Asia. Scorpius remains committed to expanding its biotech leadership while pursuing strategic opportunities to deliver shareholder value.

“We are encouraged by the potential opportunity to bring our CDMO expertise to Southeast Asia and collaborate with the Malaysian government to develop halal-compliant biomanufacturing capabilities. This expansion, if realised, would position Scorpius as a first mover in a critically underserved yet rapidly growing segment of the biopharma industry,” said Mr. Wolf.

“This appointment aligns with our commitment to building a world-class board capable of guiding Scorpius through its next chapter of growth, including the potential for international expansion,” added Mr. Wolf.
