Unnatural Products, Inc. (UNP), a biotechnology company focused on developing orally delivered macrocyclic peptide therapies for disease targets that have traditionally been difficult to treat with conventional medicines, has announced the appointment of Dr. Neera Ravindran, M.D., M.B.A., as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Dr. Ravindran joins UNP with more than two decades of experience across the biotechnology industry, including leadership roles in finance, investor relations, and public markets. Throughout her career, she has played a key role in raising capital, supporting company growth, and building financial strategies for both private and publicly traded biotech organizations.
At UNP, she will oversee the Company's financial strategy and operations, including capital planning, financial management, competitive analysis, and investor relations. She will also contribute to business development initiatives and help execute the Company's corporate strategy as it advances its macrocyclic peptide pipeline across multiple disease areas toward clinical development.
Commenting on the appointment, Cameron Pye, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of UNP, said Dr. Ravindran brings a unique combination of financial expertise and biotechnology industry knowledge gained through her experience as an equity research analyst, investor relations executive, and chief financial officer. He noted that her proven ability to secure funding, build finance organizations, and engage with investors in both private and public markets will play an important role as the Company continues to expand its operations and advance its macrocyclic therapeutics platform through both internal programs and strategic collaborations.
Dr. Ravindran expressed enthusiasm about joining the Company, stating that UNP has established a leading platform for macrocyclic peptides and has already formed four strategic partnerships spanning multiple therapeutic areas within a relatively short period. She added that she looks forward to working with the leadership team to strengthen the Company's financial foundation and provide the resources needed to continue developing therapies aimed at disease targets that have remained beyond the reach of traditional drug approaches.
Before joining UNP, Dr. Ravindran served as Chief Financial Officer at Kriya Therapeutics, where she led the Company's $270 million Series C financing, expanded its finance organization, and helped establish the financial infrastructure required to support continued growth. Prior to that, she was Vice President and Head of Investor Relations at Vir Biotechnology, where she supported the Company's rapid expansion and helped execute a successful $345 million public stock offering during a period in which its market capitalization increased from less than $2 billion to approximately $7 billion.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Ravindran held leadership positions in investor relations and strategic planning at Roche/Genentech and The Medicines Company. She also worked as a biotechnology equity research analyst at Piper Jaffray & Company, providing financial and industry analysis for the biotechnology sector. She earned her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India, and completed her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India.
