Biocartis announced that it has entered into a research collaboration with Mayo Clinic to develop a rapid, sample-to-answer test designed to reduce the time needed to guide treatment decisions for breast cancer patients. Through this collaboration, Mayo Clinic will contribute its clinical expertise, access to archived patient samples, and pathology services. These resources are expected to support and accelerate the development, validation, and future market readiness of the new test. The test is currently investigational and is not yet available for diagnostic use.

Matthew P. Goetz, M.D., medical oncologist at Mayo Clinic, explained that timely access to diagnostic information plays a critical role in determining the most appropriate treatment pathway for breast cancer patients. He noted that rapid and locally accessible testing has the potential to improve patient care by reducing delays in clinical decision-making. He added that the goal of the collaboration is to help provide faster testing options to patients who need them.

Roger Moody, Chief Executive Officer of Biocartis, stated that the company is pleased to partner with Mayo Clinic as it works toward expanding access to rapid, high-value testing solutions for breast cancer. He shared that this initiative represents an important step in Biocartis’ broader strategy to move into larger market areas, including gene signatures, patient monitoring, and early detection. Moody also highlighted Biocartis’ history of successful collaborations with both academic institutions and pharmaceutical partners, which have already contributed to achievements such as the first sample-to-answer companion diagnostic approved by the U.S. FDA and multiple CE-IVD registrations.
