Abbott and Google Sign Multi-Year Deal to Integrate Lingo CGM Data with AI Health Coaching
Abbott and Google Health sign a multi-year deal integrating Lingo CGM data with AI coaching and a large-scale metabolic health study.

Abbott's Lingo continuous glucose monitor is moving beyond standalone wearable territory: a multi-year collaboration with Google Health will pipe real-time glucose data directly into the Google Health app, where it will feed an AI coaching layer and underpin one of the largest real-world metabolic health studies conducted to date. For device manufacturers and digital health teams tracking post-market data strategy, the architecture of this deal signals a shift in how OTC CGM data is expected to flow across third-party platforms.
Under the agreement, Lingo users will see glucose trends consolidated alongside activity, sleep, and recovery metrics within the Google Health app. Google's Health Coach will then generate contextual recommendations drawing on that unified data set. The integration is designed to move metabolic insight from episodic review to continuous, behavior-linked feedback — a model that places real-world evidence generation at the center of the product roadmap rather than as a downstream activity.
The research component carries particular weight. The study will combine continuous glucose monitoring, wearable sensor output, laboratory data, and survey responses at a scale the partners describe as among the largest of its kind in metabolic health. Findings are intended to inform future AI coaching algorithms within Google Health and shape subsequent Lingo feature development — creating a feedback loop between commercial deployment and clinical evidence generation that regulatory and QA teams in the wearable space will want to track closely.
The epidemiological context is not incidental. Abbott cites data indicating that prediabetes affects more than 115 million American adults, with approximately 80 percent unaware of their status. Metabolic dysfunction is also linked to progression toward Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. Positioning an OTC CGM as an early-intervention tool — rather than a disease-management device — has implications for how labeling, intended use, and promotional claims are constructed and reviewed under 21 CFR Part 801 and applicable FDA guidance on digital health.
Olivier Ropars, divisional vice president of Abbott's Lingo business, framed the collaboration around scale: combining Abbott's biowearable infrastructure with Google's AI and consumer technology reach to make personalized metabolic insights available to a population that has not historically engaged with clinical glucose monitoring.
The real-world study's data integration methodology — continuous sensor output merged with lab and survey inputs — will serve as a reference point for how the partnership's AI guidance evolves across subsequent product iterations.
