Celldex Therapeutics has announced that Sam Martin, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, plans to retire in 2027 after many years with the company. Martin has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2017 and has been a member of Celldex's finance organization since joining the company in April 2009.
To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Celldex has begun the search for a new Chief Financial Officer. Martin will continue serving in his current role through March 2027, allowing sufficient time to support the onboarding of his successor and maintain continuity across the company's financial operations.
Anthony Marucci, Co-founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Celldex, thanked Martin for his years of dedication and leadership. He said Martin has made significant contributions to the company's growth, helping transform Celldex from an early-stage research and development organization into a late-stage biotechnology company focused on developing innovative immunology therapies.
Marucci noted that Martin has successfully built and led a strong finance organization that will continue supporting the company's long-term strategy as Celldex works toward becoming a fully integrated commercial biotechnology company. He also wished Martin the very best in his upcoming retirement.
Reflecting on his career at Celldex, Martin said he is proud of everything the company has accomplished during his tenure and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside a talented team. He expressed confidence in the company's future, highlighting its advancing clinical pipeline, ongoing efforts to strengthen commercial capabilities, and several important development milestones expected over the coming months.
Among those milestones are data readouts anticipated later this year from two Phase 3 clinical trials evaluating barzolvolimab, one of Celldex's lead investigational therapies. Martin said these upcoming results, together with the company's broader development portfolio, position Celldex well for continued growth and future success.
With the planned leadership transition underway, Celldex said it remains focused on identifying an experienced Chief Financial Officer who can support the company's next stage of development while continuing to advance its clinical programs and long-term commercial strategy.
