JAMP Pharma Recalls Digoxin Pills Over Misdosing Concerns

Digoxin tablets made by JAMP Pharma Corporation are being recalled due to the possibility of overdosing.  The weight of the 0.0625 and 0.125 mg pills may look normal, but they may weigh more or less than they should. Digoxin is a prescription medication that treats rapid or irregular heartbeats in addition to mild to severe congestive heart failure. Health Canada cautions that even little variations in blood levels or dosage might have detrimental effects. For a replacement, patients should return any impacted JAMP products to their pharmacist.

To make sure they are receiving the right dosage, patients should consult their chemist as soon as possible. Given the importance of digoxin for heart issues, people should keep taking the medications until they speak with their chemist. If they suffer from severe overdose-related adverse effects or reduce therapy efficacy, they should contact a healthcare professional immediately.

Nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhoea, disorientation, seizures, hallucinations, visual problems, exhaustion, irregular heartbeats, and unusually rapid or slow heartbeats are some of the signs and symptoms of a digoxin overdose. Heart-related side effects may be fatal in extreme situations. Adolescents, elderly individuals, and those suffering from electrolyte or thyroid conditions can be more vulnerable to negative consequences.

Digoxin's efficacy might be diminished and the patient's condition could get worse if the dosage is decreased. The company's recall is being watched over by Health Canada.
