Evotec Secures Vertex Commercial Manufacturing Deal for Povetacicept
Evotec's J.POD Redmond facility secures a commercial manufacturing role for Vertex's povetacicept, marking a key milestone for its continuous biologics platform.

Evotec's selection by Vertex Pharmaceuticals for commercial manufacturing of povetacicept signals a material step in the maturation of its Just – Evotec Biologics continuous manufacturing platform, with direct implications for CDMOs positioning biologics capacity ahead of anticipated demand through 2030. The agreement centres on the J.POD® Redmond facility and represents the platform's most advanced commercial commitment to date.
For QA directors and plant heads evaluating CDMO partnerships, the Redmond selection underscores continuous manufacturing as a credible commercial-scale option rather than a developmental proof of concept. Evotec has stated confidence in meeting Vertex's manufacturing and supply commitments, though the programme's commercial readiness will ultimately be measured against batch release consistency and regulatory acceptance under 21 CFR Part 211 and applicable biologics GMP frameworks.
Financially, the Vertex deal lands against a mixed nine-month picture. Group revenue reached €465.0 million for the first nine months of 2026, with Q3 alone at €164.9 million, the strongest single quarter of the year. Adjusted Group EBITDA remains negative at -€44.3 million through nine months, and full-year 2026 guidance holds at €570–€610 million revenue with adjusted EBITDA of -€105 to -€70 million. The company's 2030 framework targets approximately €1 billion in Group revenue and an adjusted EBITDA margin above 20% by year-end 2030.
Separately, Just – Evotec Biologics advanced the JST-018 orthopoxvirus antibody cocktail into Phase 1 in September 2026 under the U.S. Department of War's Accelerated Antibodies Program, demonstrating the platform's range across both commercial and government-funded biologics programmes. New collaborations with Plectonic and Odyssey Therapeutics extend the company's AI-enabled discovery reach into solid tumour immunology and autoimmune indications respectively.
On the operational side, Evotec's Horizon transformation programme has delivered more than 20% of its €75 million annual run-rate savings target by September 2026, ahead of the 20–30% full-year contribution planned. Workforce and footprint rationalisation measures remain on track. Dr. Joanna Holbrook has been appointed Chief Scientific Officer, adding scientific leadership at a point when platform differentiation is central to the company's commercial positioning.
The pace at which Just – Evotec Biologics converts the Vertex agreement into validated commercial batches will serve as the clearest near-term indicator of whether the J.POD continuous manufacturing model can meet the regulatory and supply reliability bar that large-molecule sponsors require.
