Gyre Therapeutics Appoints Three New Directors To Strengthen Scientific And Global Leadership

Gyre Therapeutics, Inc., a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company operating in both the United States and China, has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors, effective August 1, 2026. The newly appointed directors are Dr. Yue Xiong, the company's Chief Scientific Officer, Maxwell ("Max") Kirkby, and Dr. Claire Weston.

The appointments are intended to strengthen the Board's expertise in scientific research, clinical development, corporate governance, and global biopharmaceutical operations as the company continues to expand its pipeline across fibrosis, cancer, inflammation, and pain.

Under the appointments, Dr. Yue Xiong will serve as a Class I director with a term extending until the company's 2028 annual meeting of stockholders. Max Kirkby has been appointed as a Class II director, with his term running until the 2029 annual meeting, and will also serve on the Board's Compensation Committee. Dr. Claire Weston joins as a Class III director with a term through the 2027 annual meeting and has been appointed to the Audit Committee.

Dr. Ying Luo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gyre Therapeutics, welcomed the new directors and said the appointments reflect the company's commitment to strengthening its leadership as it advances a broad portfolio of clinical-stage programs. He noted that Max Kirkby brings decades of experience in cross-border drug development across China, Japan, the United States, and Europe, which will be valuable as Gyre expands its global clinical development efforts. He also highlighted Dr. Claire Weston's experience in building and scaling life sciences companies, stating that her operational and governance expertise will enhance the company's Audit Committee.

Dr. Luo further said that Dr. Yue Xiong has already played a key role in advancing Gyre's scientific strategy through his leadership in ubiquitin biology and the development of Cullgen's targeted protein degrader platform. His appointment to the Board formally recognizes his growing leadership role within the company and ensures that his scientific expertise will contribute directly to Board-level decision-making.

The expanded Board reflects Gyre's focus on strengthening corporate governance while supporting the continued development of its pipeline and technology platforms. In addition to advancing clinical-stage therapies, the company is investing in targeted protein degraders and degrader-antibody conjugate technologies, which are expected to play an important role in its future research and development strategy.

With these appointments, Gyre aims to combine scientific innovation with experienced leadership to support its long-term growth, strengthen global operations, and accelerate the development of new therapies for patients affected by fibrosis, cancer, inflammatory diseases, and pain.
