Legend Biotech to Open New R&D Facility in Philadelphia

Legend Biotech Corporation has announced plans to establish a new, advanced research and development facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, aimed at expanding its portfolio of next-generation cell therapies. This facility will cover 31,000 square feet and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025. It will eventually employ 55 full-time staff, contributing to the company's workforce of over 1,200 employees in the United States.

CEO Ying Huang stated that this new facility reflects Legend’s commitment to research and development, positioning the company as a leader in cell therapy innovation. The location in Philadelphia will allow Legend to integrate into a vibrant biotech community, enabling collaborations with prominent local academic institutions that are at the forefront of medical advancements.

Chief Scientific Officer Guowei Fang expressed enthusiasm about the opportunities the new site will provide. He noted that it would offer an optimal environment for the research team to innovate and develop sustainable therapies. This expansion will enhance Legend’s existing R&D capabilities, including a facility already operating in Piscataway, New Jersey, further solidifying its position in the competitive biotech landscape.
