Novo Nordisk invests $4.1B in a new production plant in Clayton, NC, adding 1,000 jobs by 2029.

In Clayton, North Carolina, US, Novo Nordisk is building a
new aseptic and finished product production plant. On the Clayton campus, it
will be the company's second fill-and-finish facility.The new facility, which
was announced in June 2024, would increase the company's ability to develop
injectable medications for obesity and other severe chronic conditions, both
now and in the future.
Novo Nordisk is funding the new plant with $4.1 billion. The
initiative is a component of Novo Nordisk's intentions to grow its present
investments in 2024, with a goal of contributing $6.8 billion to production, a
substantial increase from the $3.9 billion invested the year before.The
facility's foundation and preliminary clearance work have started, and
development will be finished gradually between 2027 and 2029. 2,000 outside
contractors are anticipated to work on the project during its busiest building
period.
A further 1,000 jobs will be created by the new plant,
bringing the total number of Novo Nordisk employees in the area to 2,500.The
new plant, which would occupy 56 acres (22.7 hectares) on the Novo Nordisk
property in Clayton, North Carolina, will be located there. The total square
footage of the company's three current North Carolina locations will be
doubled.
