Rectify Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company developing Positive Functional Modulators (PFMs), has announced the appointment of Constantine Chinoporos as Executive Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective immediately. The company said the appointment strengthens its leadership team as it advances its pipeline of oral small-molecule therapies designed to restore and enhance membrane protein function.
Mr. Chinoporos brings more than three decades of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with expertise spanning business development, corporate strategy, commercialization, and executive leadership. His appointment comes at an important stage for Rectify as the company transitions into clinical development following the recent advancement of its lead drug candidate, RTY-406, into human clinical trials.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Chinoporos said Rectify is entering an exciting period of growth, particularly after RTY-406 recently entered the clinic. He noted that the investigational therapy has the potential to address significant unmet medical needs in hepatobiliary diseases, including primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a rare and progressive liver disorder. According to Chinoporos, RTY-406's unique dual mechanism of action could provide a disease-modifying treatment approach rather than simply managing symptoms.
He also highlighted the broader potential of Rectify's Positive Functional Modulator platform beyond liver diseases. The company is expanding its research into additional therapeutic areas, supported by a strategic research and licensing agreement with Boehringer Ingelheim to accelerate the development of new treatments for chronic kidney disease (CKD) and other serious medical conditions. Chinoporos said he is honored to join the company during this important phase and looks forward to using his industry experience to help guide Rectify's continued growth and clinical progress.
Jason Rhodes, a member of Rectify's Board of Directors and the company's former Chairman, welcomed Chinoporos to the leadership team. He described him as an accomplished biopharmaceutical executive with extensive experience in hepatobiliary diseases and other therapeutic areas. Rhodes added that Chinoporos' leadership and strategic expertise will play an important role in supporting the company's future development alongside the management team and Board.
Rajesh Devraj, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Rectify Pharmaceuticals, praised the company's scientific and development teams for successfully advancing the Positive Functional Modulator platform from discovery into clinical development. He said the initiation of the Phase 1 clinical trial for RTY-406 marks a major milestone for Rectify and reflects the company's evolution into a clinical-stage biotechnology organization. As the company moves toward generating clinical data in primary sclerosing cholangitis and other hepatobiliary diseases, Devraj said Chinoporos is an ideal addition to the leadership team.
Throughout his career, Constantine Chinoporos has held several senior executive positions across the biotechnology industry. He previously served as Chief Business Officer of Albireo Pharmaceuticals until the company's acquisition by Ipsen in 2023. He currently serves as interim Chief Business Officer at enGene. Before that, he held the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Business Officer at Applied Therapeutics until its acquisition by Cycle Pharmaceuticals in 2026.
Beyond his executive leadership roles, Chinoporos has significant experience serving on corporate boards. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Geron Corporation. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Elektrofi, where he chaired the Compensation Committee until the company was acquired by Halozyme Therapeutics in 2025. Earlier in his career, he also held senior leadership positions at Boston Pharmaceuticals, Sanofi, Genzyme, and Eli Lilly, gaining extensive experience in corporate strategy, business development, and commercial operations.
Mr. Chinoporos earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Cornell University. With his appointment as Executive Chairman, Rectify aims to strengthen its leadership as it advances RTY-406 and continues expanding its Positive Functional Modulator platform across multiple disease areas.
