Syntegon has introduced the AIM9 inspection platform, a high-speed solution that combines visual inspection and leak detection for pharmaceutical manufacturers and contract manufacturing organisations (CMOs). Built on decades of engineering experience and established technology, the AIM9 can inspect up to 600 vials per minute, helping manufacturers meet demanding production targets while maintaining stringent quality standards.
The system is engineered for high-performance environments and addresses one of the industry’s ongoing challenges: efficiently managing multiple container formats. AIM9 accommodates vial sizes ranging from 2 ml to 250 ml and enables quick, user-friendly changeovers. This flexibility allows manufacturers to adapt rapidly to new products and varying production requirements without compromising throughput.
“Efficiency is key in the fast-paced pharmaceutical industry.” Bernd Barkey, President of Syntegon Japan and Global Head of Inspection, at Syntegon. “The new AIM9 enables our customers to boost productivity and meet ambitious delivery targets.”
A key feature of the platform is its fully integrated Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT). The system offers headspace gas analysis, high-voltage leak detection, or both, eliminating the need for separate inspection equipment. In addition, AIM9 incorporates advanced visual inspection technologies that detect particulate contamination and cosmetic defects, helping reduce false rejects while maintaining high detection accuracy.
Bernd Barkey also said, “AIM9 is available in several variants based on a standardised platform, which allows us to co-create the ideal solution together with our customers. Backed by many decades of experience, we can offer our customers exactly what they need to achieve the required performance, efficiency, and flexibility in their inspection process.”
The platform includes Syntegon’s patented SD technology, along with area and line-scan cameras, and offers optional deep learning integration for enhanced defect recognition. A bubble-masking tool further improves accuracy by distinguishing harmless air bubbles from actual defects. The inspection process is supported by a proven, smooth transport system that ensures stable and secure container handling throughout operations.
