Tonix Launches “Move Fibro Forward” To Raise Awareness And Address Gaps In Fibromyalgia Treatment

Tonix Pharmaceuticals Holding Corp., a fully-integrated biotech company, announced that its commercial arm, Tonix Medicines, Inc., has initiated the “Move Fibro Forward” campaign. This national initiative is aimed at raising awareness about fibromyalgia, a chronic and often misunderstood condition, and to provide much-needed support to those living with its life-altering symptoms. The campaign underscores the unmet needs in fibromyalgia treatment, particularly the lack of any new FDA-approved therapies in over 15 years.

“Millions of individuals impacted by fibromyalgia have suffered in silence for far too long. We believe that demonstrating our knowledge of, and compassion for, their condition and validation of their experience is an important step toward meaningful progress. This campaign is a reflection of our commitment to the community—both today and in the future,” said Thomas Englese, President of Tonix Medicines, Inc.

Fibromyalgia affects approximately 10 million adults in the U.S., with women accounting for nearly 90% of the patient population. It is characterised by widespread chronic pain, fatigue, nonrestorative sleep, and morning stiffness. Patients often also experience cognitive challenges and emotional symptoms, such as anxiety and depression. The condition severely impacts daily functioning and overall quality of life, often leading to long-term disability. Despite the prevalence and severity of fibromyalgia, current treatment options are limited and widely regarded as inadequate by both patients and healthcare providers.

“Fibromyalgia can make you feel invisible. Initiatives like Move Fibro Forward help shine a light on our experiences and encourage individuals impacted by fibromyalgia to seek education and resources,” said Sharon Waldrop, a person with lived experience and Founder of the Fibromyalgia Association.
