Inside the Pharma Manufacturing IT Summit, Ahmedabad: Why the Factory Floor Finally Gets a Seat at the Table
Inside PMITS Ahmedabad, 7 July 2026. 130 delegates, India's top pharma manufacturing IT leaders, on MES, CSA, GAMP 5, and the paperless transition.

Gujarat manufactures roughly a third of India's pharma output, and most of it is still validated the way it was in 2018. That gap — between what Gujarat's plants produce and how digitally mature their manufacturing IT actually is — is exactly what the Pharma Manufacturing IT Summit (PMITS) is built to confront, on 7 July 2026 at Le Méridien, Ahmedabad.
Why Ahmedabad, Specifically
This isn't an arbitrary city choice. Zydus, Torrent, Cadila, Alembic, and a dense cluster of API and formulation manufacturers sit in or around Ahmedabad and Gujarat more broadly. Twelve of India's top-20 pharma manufacturers run at least one Gujarat plant — the decision-makers who own validation budgets, MES rollouts, and digital plant strategy are already here, which matters more in manufacturing IT than in almost any other pharma technology category.
Who's in the Room
PMITS is capped at 130 delegates with end-users guaranteed to dominate the room: Heads of Manufacturing IT (25%), CSV/Validation Heads (18%), Lab Informatics/LIMS Heads (15%), Plant IT/Site IT Managers (14%), QA Digital/Data Integrity leaders (12%), CIOs/CTOs (10%), and Serialisation/Track-and-Trace specialists (6%) — with 70%+ end-users and a deliberate minority of vendors.
Confirmed Speakers
Vikram Shukla (President, Zydus) delivers the Chief Guest address. The bench also includes Pramod Gokhale (Sr. President & Global CIO, Mankind Pharma), Dr. Bijender Mishra (Global IT Head & CISO, Alkem Laboratories), Ravi Kalla (CIO, Anthem Biosciences), Narinder Sagar (CIO, Corona Remedies), Rahul Songire (Sr. VP – Central Quality, Zydus Lifesciences), and Shyam Khante (former Director, GSK) — practitioners running the systems they speak about, not vendors presenting case studies of their own products.
The Agenda — Three Acts
- Act I — The Reset (09:00–13:30): Keynote — 'The MES Graveyard: why 7 of 10 Indian pharma MES projects die in year 2' · Panel — a real CSA conversation with Sun Pharma, Serum, Anthem & Corona Remedies
- Act II — The Floor (13:30–15:30): Curated seated lunch · 'What 300 pharma sites taught us about AI' · Fireside chat with Shyam Khante — 'From Shopfloors to Boardrooms'
- Act III — The Build (15:30–18:30): Panel — 'What if ransomware hit your plant tomorrow?' with Alkem, Akums & ex-CISO Lupin · 'How we cleared a USFDA 483 — a QA-IT joint war room' · Closed Leadership Roundtable on the 5-year manufacturing IT investment map

The Bigger Picture
PMITS sits inside the broader CSV-to-CSA transition, GAMP 5 Ed.2 adoption curve, and MES/LIMS modernisation wave reshaping pharma manufacturing IT across India — the themes covered across this series. For Indian pharma manufacturing IT leaders, Ahmedabad on 7 July is where those shifts stop being regulatory bulletins and become a room full of people who actually have to execute them.
