Top 10 Pharma Industries in Bangalore to Know in 2026

Bengaluru's pharma base leans toward biologics and contract research, development and manufacturing: seven of the nine companies profiled below work there. Every entry is checked against a filing, its own site or a regulator's document.

Why Bengaluru matters to pharma manufacturing and research

For sourcing, quality and business-development teams, Bengaluru's weight is not in volume generics. It is in biologics, in contract research, development and manufacturing organizations (CRDMOs) that take a molecule from discovery to commercial supply, and in formulation plants that hold approvals from regulators in the United States, the United Kingdom and the World Health Organization (WHO). If your next outsourcing decision involves a biologic, a toxicology package or a regulated-market generic, the sites below are worth knowing.

The work sits in a handful of industrial belts on the city's southern and north-western edges. On Hosur Road, Electronic City holds Biocon's headquarters. Further south, Bommasandra and the Jigani Link Road hold Syngene, Anthem's first unit and several Micro Labs plants. To the north-west, Peenya holds Eurofins Advinus, and Yeshwantpur holds Jubilant Biosys.

Two regulators oversee this base. Karnataka's Drugs Control Department is the state licensing authority that grants manufacturing licences. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), India's national drug regulator, runs an office in the same Palace Road building. Both are covered in the regulator section below. For why the city became a biotech base in the first place, see Why Is Bangalore A Pharma And Biotech Hotspot?

How this list was built. Each company appears because a filing, the company's own site or a regulator's document places a manufacturing, research and development (R&D) or laboratory operation in Bengaluru Urban or Bengaluru Rural district. Franchise marketers, distributors, online pharmacies, sales offices and global capability centres are not listed. Inclusion is editorial and never paid. For the national picture, see our guide to pharma companies in India and India's 20 largest pharmaceutical companies.

Pharma companies in Bangalore

The nine companies below are listed alphabetically, not ranked. They span biologics makers, contract research and manufacturing organizations, preclinical and discovery CROs, and formulation and API producers. A Type line on each entry lets you scan by business model.

Anthem was incorporated in Bangalore on 13 June 2006 and describes itself as a CRDMO with integrated new chemical entity (NCE) and new biological entity (NBE) capabilities, serving emerging biotech and large pharmaceutical companies. Its FY26 results release reports revenue up 15.2% from ₹18,446 million, and profit after tax of ₹5,918 million. CRDMO work brought in ₹17,727 million; specialty ingredients, ₹3,516 million.

Its July 2026 investor presentation lists three units: Unit I at Bommasandra, and Units II and III at Harohalli Industrial Area, Phase II, in the district Karnataka renamed Bengaluru South on 23 May 2025 (formerly Ramanagara). Group capacity is 425 kilolitres (KL) of custom synthesis and 142 KL of fermentation.

For qualification, note which unit will run your process. Despite the name, Bengaluru South is a separate district from Bengaluru Urban, so the Harohalli units carry a different district address on licences and audit reports.

Who checks their work

Every company above works under the same two regulators. The manufacturing licence on file for a Bengaluru plant is issued by Karnataka's Drugs Control Department. For biologics makers such as Biocon, Kemwell and Syngene, the central regulator joins that licensing inspection, because CDSCO takes part in licensing for biotech and biosimilar units. Both offices work from the same building on Palace Road, and the next section sets out what each does.

Regulators in Bengaluru

Neither office is a company, so neither counts toward the entries above.

Karnataka State Drugs Control Department

Karnataka State Drugs Control Department Logo

Status: State licensing authority for drugs under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940

Address: Palace Road, Bengaluru 560001

In India, state drugs controllers are the licensing authority for drug manufacture and sale. CDSCO's own South Zone disclosure describes them as "the Licensing Authority under the Act", with CDSCO's zonal offices set up to coordinate with them on uniform enforcement. Karnataka's department is listed at Palace Road in CDSCO's directory of state drugs controllers. For a Bengaluru plant, the manufacturing licence on file is issued here.

CDSCO office, Bengaluru

Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation Logo

Status: Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation office for Karnataka, opened on 1 September 2009

Address: 2nd Floor, Office of the Drugs Controller for the State of Karnataka, Palace Road, Bengaluru 560001

CDSCO's Bengaluru page gives the address above, and its South Zone disclosure records the office's start date of 1 September 2009 and its jurisdiction over Karnataka. The same disclosure describes the joint work zonal offices do with state authorities: inspections to grant or renew licences for large-volume parenteral (LVP) units, vaccines and sera, blood banks, and biotech and biosimilar units, and for WHO-format Certificates of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP). For the biologics makers above, licensing inspections are therefore joint state and central inspections.

CDSCO also runs a port office at Kempegowda International Airport, which controls drug, cosmetic and medical device imports and exports and issues No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to customs.

What this means for sourcing and regulatory teams

Bengaluru's companies change shape faster than the lists written about them. Biocon has moved to take full ownership of Biocon Biologics, and the district holding two of Anthem's three units was renamed in May 2025 without either plant moving. Before qualifying a supplier here, confirm the current legal entity, its parent and the district on its licence.

The second lesson is that approvals and certificates are dated, and the burden of checking the date sits with the buyer. Eurofins Advinus holds a GLP certificate valid to 8 January 2029; Micro Labs' Kumbalgodu plant passed a WHO inspection in February 2025; Kemwell reports an FDA pre-approval inspection in 2025. Each of those is a point in time. Record the date you checked it, and ask for the regulator's own document rather than the company's summary.

Finally, group-level claims do not qualify a site. Strides and Syngene both publish approval counts for the whole company, not for each plant. The question that matters is which site makes your product, and what that site's own record shows. Our Ghaziabad guide applies the same test to a very different city.

This guide grows only as entries are confirmed. Companies with a manufacturing, R&D or laboratory operation in Bengaluru Urban or Bengaluru Rural district can ask to be considered through the contact page.
